ONergy has setup a 2 HP Solar Irrigation system at Betna village in Nadia district replacing a Diesel Pumpset, powered by a 2.4 Kw Solar powerplant. The farmers who were charged Rs 100 for an hour of water are now only charged Rs 70 per hour from the solar pump, leading to significant savings for the farmers.
The solar irrigation system has remote monitoring capability - that allows for the control of water supply, and also monitors the functioning of the solar pump. The solar pumps offers a reliable irrigation and pumping system that replaces polluting diesel and irregular grid pumps. Farmers now have access to safe and secure irrigation facilities without worrying about breakdowns or powercuts. SwitchON-ONergy has successfully implemented this solar irrigation system in West Bengal charging farmers on a pay-as-you-go basis. The project is jointly funded by NABARD through the Rural Innovation Fund. ONergy is in the process of setting up another 3 HP solar pump with water storage facility of upto 30,000 litres for vegetable farmers at Bagnan, Howrah.
